Maybe We Should Have Been Green

Maybe then Mr. Wright wouldn’t be so wrong. Maybe things would be different if we all sang the same ole’ song, had the same ole’ color and did things the same ole’ way. But, I suppose even then we would contend over which shade of green; lime, aqua, army, or emerald. It’s all green, but someone would not be happy and so therefore we would be just a “Typical Green Person.”

Although I cannot say as Steve Martin did, “I’m from a poor green family.” I can say that my grandmother was from Mississippi and raised us up with a switch in one hand and a Hymn book in the other. And I never heard any of the wrong words spoken by Mr. Wright.

I don’t know who his parishioners associate with, but my “Mamaw” was not and did not change the meaning of the word “Typical”. Typical to our family was sitting on the screened in porch, drinking tea in the summer evening after working the farm, milking cows and shelling peas for dinner. This is how I spent my formative years. We were not taught to hate anyone that was not “Green”. In this aspect we were a “Typical Green Family” doing “Typical Green Things.”

In retrospect I have never been called the “G” word, been told to get on the back of the bus, refused a job, not been paid the same wage, had fire hoses turned on me, police dogs released on me, told I could not eat in this restaurant or been told I had to use a “pee can” because the restroom said “green only”

Over the years I have counseled people who were raped, robbed, molested, addicted, afflicted, infested, inspected and rejected. My words to them were then, and are now, “you are more than conquers through the Man Christ Jesus” because “He is the same today, yesterday and forever.” You see, after all the pain (that is real ), contrary to what I heard a man whom set under Mr. Wright’s wrong teachings for half of his life say. “People do get over things” and what he said, “just don’t go away – DOES go away “IF YOU LET IT”.

I have been in the church and seen the lime greens repenting to the emerald greens, the pea greens to the sea greens over and over. Just when you come to the place that we believe it’s under the blood, Mr. Wright comes from the place of “Gods authority and says just the opposite of what God is really saying”. I’m sorry, is there a “Wrong book that I didn’t read Wright”?

My God has not, did not and will not damn America. America has done more to evangelize the world (and yes, Mr. Wright you got it Wrong again). We have spent millions of dollars, gallons of spilled blood of countless missionaries in your confessed homeland of Africa than your friend Louis Farrakhn and all muslim countries combined.

While we are on spilled blood, America was accused of not protecting the life of the innocent when Mr. Wright is wrongly standing for the right to kill unborn children and saying we want to overturn Roe vs. Wade. You think??? That’s a big fat “Typical Yep” and we will see it too!

I watched the History Channel last night about World War II soldiers telling their stories. All of which are now old men who still weep when they tell of their fallen comrades, friends and brothers. My dad was a Veteran, I am Veteran, and my son is going back to Baghdad for a second tour of duty. When I hear a person such as a presidential candidates wife, that has the privilege to live here legally, knowing of the thousands a day who risk there lives to come here for a better way of life, say their whole life they were ashamed of being an American. This is one “typical green guy” who does not and will not negotiate, tolerate or associate with that “Wrong spirit from the Wright church”.

I feel we would be in the same place if we were all green after all. However, my faith is in this: Resurrection day is Sunday and My God did not send a Typical Son to do a Typical deal. Jesus gave it up for us and it was not a Typical day when the stone was rolled away. And it did not let him out, it let us in and His napkin was folded in its place. When the Master was finished with his meal He never folded his napkin. He used it, wadded it up and left it. If He folded it and put it in its place, this meant for the servant to leave things as is because He was coming back for a second portion. Such as in the words the Untypical Terminator, “I’ll be Baaak”!

May you live an UNtypical life as an UNtypical Green Person regardless of your shade. We are all in the same “green family”.
