I have been speaking on a theme recently concerning the spirit of religion, and if you thought about someone else just then, you have one. If you have been in church more than five years you are going to have some religion in one form or another on you.
I have received many words and emails of encouragement about continuing with this subject. There has been a bit of confusion however. While praying about this I felt the Spirit speak to my heart this morning, so I wanted to get these thoughts out so as to help with matters of the heart.
First and foremost, there is but one name given under heaven which we must be saved . . . Jesus who is the Christ! There is no blood that washes away our sins but the blood of Christ. No matter what Oprah or anyone else has to say.
Having said that let us now continue. Anything you add to Jesus for your salvation is a process. Jesus said it is finished! Therefore the sin issue was dealt with on cavalry. Simply put, our spirits can not be any more saved than when we first asked Jesus in your heart. That plus anything else would add a work that we must do and this is in direct opposition to the cross.
Eph 2:8-9: It is not by works of righteousness we have done we are saved by grace so we cannot brag about how good we are. It’s a gift of God.
The process of the soul (mind, will and emotion) is where we have the problem. The book of James puts it this way.
James 1:19-21: My beloved brethren (he is talking to Christians) receive the implanted word which is able to save your souls.
This is the renewing of the mind spoken by the writer of Romans.
Romans 12:2: And be not conformed to this world: but are ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
At a leadership meeting I posed a question about people who are killed instantly and suddenly without confessing Jesus as Lord. What happens to their soul? Now we know by scripture that we must confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus. Therefore, as far as we know He is lost.
What we don’t know however is what happened in that instant between life and death. Therefore the mother who prayed for a son for years and he dies suddenly for us to tell her we know for a fact he is in hell is wrong. I have heard many testimonies of Jesus pulling people out of the fires of hell because they called his name in that instant. That does not mean you can die without knowing Jesus and expect another chance.
Anyone reading this, if you don’t know Jesus why risk an eternity of hell? Total and complete separation from the love of God forever! But to that mother who has lost her son, daughter, husband or loved one, our God’s judgments are true and righteous. Therefore when that day comes and judgments are carried out you will be able to say with all of heaven true and righteous are your judgments Lord.
Rev 16:7: And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous [are] thy judgments.
A minister at church told me after the meeting that many years ago her uncle was in a coma dying and the family could not get a minister to go pray for him because of their religious mindsets. She went and prayed for her uncle (that’s right, we have women ministers in our church) and led him to Jesus.
Now it was not until recently the medical world found out that people in comas can hear you speak. They simply cannot respond to you. We now know their spirit man is alert. Jesus said it plain enough.
John 16:12: I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Just because some of us cannot bear it does not mean I for one don’t want to hear it.
A mindset is a tough thing to break. I saw a Muslim woman in the mall yesterday totally covered except for a slit for her eyes. She has worn this in public most of her life. If I am not mistaken I believe when they are married they can no longer dress any other way in public. She had several children, therefore she had many years of marriage. When that family meets Jesus and she is able to walk free of her old life she will have a tendency to put it back on simple because she is used to it but, give her a while and she will tell you of the joy she has not wearing that cloak of bondage anymore.
Someone told me, “brother you telling us that Jesus plus nothing is taking away his word and holiness”. No I am not. I am saying just the opposite.
John 1: In the beginning was the word and the word was God and the word was with God He was in the beginning with God. And the Word became flesh and walked among us.
They are both the same you can’t separate Him from the word no more than you can unscramble eggs.
Praise God for the reformation that is upon us. People are shedding the yolks that held them captive and coming alive with a freedom of spirit they never had before and the things they once craved are no longer a craving. There is a people who have chased God so hard they suddenly realize He was not running from them, they were running from Him with there religious mannerisms and self righteous acts of outside holiness which is a bondage that no one can keep.
No wonder so many spirit filled believers need Prozac. They are under as much bondage as they were before they came to Jesus in the first place. My God is a good God. Religion is mean and hateful, it’s controlling and has the responsibility for every war that has ever been fought.
My God gave me Jesus and told me there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ who walk in Him and not in Adam (the flesh). Jesus + nothing = freedom. Jesus + anything = bondage. Now you would think this would make everyone roar like the lion of Judah with relief. So roar on. Shout to the Lord, go to the mall and let your light blind the darkness. You are the reformation of the resurrected church with a voice of triumph and a drink to a dry and thirsty world.
